The Yogi's Life: Philosophy, Practice, and Play
Yoga doesn't end when I step off the mat. It is in the quiet moments of reflection, the playful handstands with my son, and the rhythm of everyday life.
A moment of father-son acro yoga. Balancing my son on my feet during a handstand is a beautiful exercise in trust, strength, and connection. What title would you give this?
This is how we spend our mornings, creating moments of laughter and joy. For me, yoga is also about connection, play, and making memories with my family.
A playful moment combining Padmasana (Lotus Pose), the ancient wisdom of the Thirukkural, and a yoga mat. The path of a yogi is one of continuous learning, both on and off the mat.
A short yoga sequence demonstrating the flow between asanas. Consistent practice cultivates a profound bond between mind and body, bringing balance and harmony to everyday life.
Today's vinyasa practice. A simple flow connecting breath with movement is a powerful way to build heat, focus the mind, and prepare the body for the day.
A dynamic transition from Mandalasana into a reverse flip. Exploring creative movements like this keeps the practice fresh and challenges my body in new and unexpected ways.
An evening of fun and exploration, using a simple pull-up bar to play with movement and strength. The body is an incredible instrument, and it's a joy to discover what it can do.
About this collection
You will notice that my practice is rarely confined to a sterile studio setting. Often, it involves my son, Vivasvaan, or incorporating ancient wisdom like the Thirukkural into my daily flows. We do not just train for the perfect asana; we find the yoga in the connection, the play, and the moments of stillness found between our movements.
For me, yoga is a journey inward. Whether I am balancing in a headstand, breaking down a complex arm balance for a student, or simply finding a quiet moment to read, my practice remains the constant.
Living the Practice
Yoga is a reflection of life. When we practice, we aren't just stretching muscles or holding postures; we are preparing our minds to handle the chaos of the outside world. My classes at Koramangala are built on this principle. We don't chase perfection. Instead, we use props—chairs, bricks, belts—as tools to understand our own bodies better, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their experience, can access the deeper benefits of the asanas.
Philosophy and Movement
I often weave elements of philosophy and movement arts into our sessions. This isn't just about asana; it's about building resilience. By exploring transitions and drawing inspiration from disciplines like capoeira or simple daily conditioning, we keep the mind curious and the body capable.
Bringing it to You
If you have been looking to move beyond the basics and want to deepen your understanding of your body and mind, my workshops are designed for you. We focus on:
- Technical Alignment: Using props for safety and depth.
- Mind-Body Connection: Learning to breathe through challenges.
- Holistic Growth: Integrating yoga into your daily routine.
Practice, and all is coming. If you are ready to show up, I am ready to guide you.
