Hockey Power & Endurance Conditioning
To last a full 60-minute match, you need a serious engine. I don't believe in just running laps; we use uphill sprints and game-simulated drills to build stamina that lasts until the final whistle.
Building explosive power with uphill running drills at SAI STC Bangalore. This training is essential for developing the speed and acceleration that makes a real difference on the turf. We push hard to get faster and stronger.
A glimpse into a hill training session. We start with dynamic warm-ups like bodyweight squats and then move into endurance runs on varied terrain. This builds mental toughness and the physical stamina required for high-intensity hockey.
About Power & Endurance Conditioning
My hill running sessions at SAI STC Bangalore aren't about mindless miles. We focus on short, explosive bursts to mimic the deceleration and rapid acceleration you actually face in a match. You will feel the difference in your fourth-quarter performance, when other players are slowing down and you are still sprinting to the circle.
My Philosophy: Fitness, Not Aesthetics
I don't train bodybuilders. If you want to lift for size, find another gym. My goal is to make you a complete hockey athlete. We focus on compound movements like deadlifts and weighted lunges, but only if they directly translate to a harder tackle, a faster sprint, or better balance.
The Training Split
We train six days a week because consistency is the only way to build an engine. My sessions combine gym work and on-turf drills to ensure your body can handle the pressure.
- The Engine: We use paved inclines and uphill runs to develop explosive power. This isn't easy, but it works. You will hear me shouting, 'Come on, go, go, go!' because your mind needs to be as conditioned as your legs.
- The Hockey Link: We practice agility with cones and stick-in-hand drills. It does not matter how fast you run if you lose the ball on the turn. We bridge that gap between track speed and turf speed.
- Goalkeeper Specialists: If you are in the goal, we focus on reaction time and specific footwork. You need to be explosive in short distances to save that penalty corner.
What to Expect
You are joining a squad. We sweat, we grind, and we win together. I push you hard, but after the session, we chill. We laugh, we talk hockey, and we build that family environment that keeps you coming back for the next 5:00 AM session. If you are ready to work, I am ready to coach. Om Muruga Potri.
