A full house for our book launch of "A Bounty of Chilies"! It was a spicy and interactive session where author Niyatee Sharma and illustrator Vibha Surya shared their creative journey.
Here you can see both the author and illustrator in action during the "A Bounty of Chilies" book launch. The kids were captivated as the story was read aloud while drawings were created live.
Illustrator Vibha Surya live-drawing a character from the book. This is one of my favorite parts of author events, as it shows kids the magic of how book characters come to life.
Author Niyatee Sharma engaging the audience during the book launch. Her energy and passion for storytelling are absolutely contagious, making the session so much fun for everyone.
The author and illustrator showing the kids the beautiful pages of their new book. These moments of connection are what make my author sessions so special.

A wonderful group of young detectives listening intently during our "Egghead Detective Agency" session with author Pika Nani. The room was buzzing with curiosity and excitement.

About Storytelling & Meet the Author
We turn reading into a loud, interactive, and totally hands-on experience. When you join our meet-and-greets at our Koramangala center, your child isn't just listening—they’re live-drawing with illustrators like Priya Kuriyan, solving mysteries alongside characters from Pika Nani’s books, or helping authors launch their latest stories.
At Hoo Hippocampus, we believe a book is just the starting point of an adventure. Our storytelling sessions are designed to break the 'library shush' stereotype. We bring in real authors and illustrators to bridge the gap between the page and your child’s imagination.
Whether it's a book launch like 'A Bounty of Chilies' with Niyatee Sharma or a brain-scrambling detective afternoon with Pika Nani, we make sure every session is active. You won’t find kids sitting still for long; they’re usually busy with:
- Live Illustration: Watching artists draw characters from the books right before their eyes.
- Activity-Based Learning: Participating in puzzles, mazes, and word games that tie directly into the story being read.
- Personal Connections: Getting books signed and chatting one-on-one with the creators.
Our space in Koramangala 3rd Block is specifically set up to host these interactive groups. We keep sessions small so every kid feels like part of the story, not just an audience member. It’s all about creating that 'aha!' moment when a child realizes that real people write these books, and they can be creators too. Come over, get messy with some crafts, and let’s make reading the highlight of your Saturday.
