Battle Tested Hip-Hop Dance Performance & Skills
I do not just teach the moves, I live them. My experience in the national battle circuit shapes everything we do in my Bengaluru studio, from building muscle control to mastering that freestyle flow.
This is where I test my skills, in the battle cypher. The energy from competitions is something I bring back to every class, teaching you how to perform under pressure and connect with the music.
A clip from my Top 16 round at the Battle of Calicut. In a battle, it's all about musicality, creativity, and responding to your opponent and the crowd.
A clip from my Top 16 exchange at a local battle. Each round is a conversation, and you have to be ready to listen and reply with your movement.
Here I am during a judge showcase battle at Jain University. It was an honor to be invited to judge and share my style with the next generation of dancers.
I was proud to place as a runner-up at the Indian Hip Hop Nation national qualifier. I'm always pushing myself to grow as a dancer, and I bring that same mindset to my students.
Another shot from the Hipfest India National Qualifier, holding my runner-up award. Moments like these are a result of consistent training and a love for the culture.
Posing with the champion of the Allstyle Battle. The spirit of competition in hip-hop is about respect and pushing each other to be better.
My partner and I took the runner-up spot in the 2 vs 2 open style battle at Battle of Calicut. Team battles are all about chemistry and strategy.
About Battle Tested: Competition Highlights
Battling is not just about winning. It is the fastest way to learn how to recover when you make a mistake. In my classes, we do not just drill choreography. I teach you how to maintain your flow even when you slip, so you can dance with the confidence you need for any cypher or stage.
When you see me compete at events like the Battle of Calicut or the Indian Hip Hop Nation qualifier, you are seeing the result of years of practice, but more importantly, you are seeing the 'how'. Competing teaches you musicality and the ability to react to a crowd or an opponent in real time.
My classes at Bangalore Dance Studio are designed to bridge that gap. We do not just memorize steps to a trending song.
Here is how my battle experience changes the way we train:
- Recovery Mechanics: In a battle, you will slip. The key is how you keep dancing. We practice recovery drills so that a minor mistake does not kill your performance.
- Freestyle Confidence: I teach you how to listen to the beat instead of just counting the rhythm. This helps you get over the fear of dancing alone.
- Conditioning for Performance: We focus on the physical side, specifically lower body strength through lunges and single-leg balances, so you have the stamina to sustain your energy through a long routine or a competitive round.
Whether you are aiming to compete or just want to feel comfortable moving to music at a party, the principles remain the same: strong foundations, disciplined practice, and the ability to express yourself under pressure. I keep my batches small, between 10 to 15 students, because I want to make sure I can give you personal feedback on your technique, just like I would with my crew members.
