My Sketchbook & Hand-Painted Art

Before the clay takes shape on the wheel, my stories usually live here, in my sketches, watercolors, and random musings.

The artist and the art. A little reel showing me in my happy place, the mountains, alongside some of my paintings and illustrations that are inspired by my travels and daydreams.

A still life painting I did using watercolors and pen. I love capturing the textures of things, like the wicker table and the different ceramic vases.

A closer look at the details in my watercolor painting. Capturing the delicate yellow flowers was my favorite part of this piece.

About My Sketchbook & Other Art

People often see my pottery first, but these illustrations are the true blueprints. Whether it is a quick pen sketch or a watercolor of mountain flowers, everything I draw eventually whispers to the clay, helping me figure out the textures and moods for my ceramic pieces.

Drawing is how I quiet my overthinking mind. When I am not at the potter’s wheel, you will find me with my sketchbook, capturing things that hold memories. It might be the way the winter sun hits my mother’s garden or the fleeting feeling of a trip to the Tirthan valley.

These are not just doodles. They are studies in texture and emotion. When I paint a mountain scene or a delicate flower, I am mentally mapping out how to carve those same lines into a vase or bowl later. It is a bit like sketching movies so the endings never come.

I also take on custom illustration commissions. If you have a memory you would like captured in watercolor, ink, or a mix of both, reach out. Let’s talk about your favourite place or a moment that stays with you, and we can find a way to put it on paper or clay.

A bit about my process:

  • Mediums: I primarily use camel watercolors and fine-liner pens for my illustrations.
  • Themes: Memories, pahad (mountains), botanical studies, and the little joys of everyday life.
  • Custom Work: From personalized art prints to illustrations that serve as concepts for your custom pottery, I am open to collaborating on stories that resonate with you.
