These are the pieces closest to my heart. From my mountain-inspired vases to the quirky trinket bowls that keep you company, each one carries a memory or a moment of quiet studio magic.

This is a piece from my 'Houses on Cliff' series, a collection that is very close to my heart. It’s inspired by my travels to the *pahad* (mountains), trying to capture the feeling of a quiet home nestled in nature. This ceramic art piece functions as a unique vase, perfect for holding wildflowers and memories.

The sgraffito technique is one of my favorites. It involves carving through a layer of colored slip to reveal the clay body underneath. It’s a slow, meditative process, and I love how it allows me to draw my floral and nature-inspired designs directly onto the pottery.

Meet one of my little animal friends. I create these whimsical trinket bowls to hold your tiny treasures. This one features a hand-sculpted fox, ready to keep your rings and earrings safe. It's a small piece of functional art to bring a little joy to your dresser.

This is where it all begins. Just me, the clay, and the wheel. There's a certain peace I find in this motion, in centering the clay and giving it form. It’s a reminder to live every minute and find joy in the process.

A little bit of wearable art to show your personality. These hand-painted ceramic cat badges are quirky, cute, and each one has a slightly different expression. They are perfect for pinning on a jacket or a bag.

The big reveal! My studio goes from clean and quiet to a happy mess after a kiln opening. It’s always emotional to see how the glazes have transformed, which pieces survived, and which ones have new, unexpected quirks.

In pottery, things break. It’s a part of the process. This piece, a small ceramic polaroid with a mountain view, cracked right in half. It’s a lesson in learning to let go of perfection.

But sometimes, broken things can be fixed. I used the Japanese art of kintsugi to mend this piece, highlighting the crack with gold. It tells a new story now, one of resilience and finding beauty in imperfection.

A little hello from me, Malvika. In this video, I share a bit about my journey and what inspires my work. I believe every piece I make carries a story, and I'm so excited to share them with you.

About Featured

Every piece here is a jigar ka tukda, or a piece of my heart. Because I hand-throw and sculpt each item, you will see subtle, organic variations in shape, glaze, and texture. These aren't defects; they are the thumbprints of the process that make your piece truly one of a kind. If you are looking for mass-produced uniformity, my work might feel a bit different, but if you love things with stories, you will feel right at home.

My studio practice is an exercise in the art of letting go. Whether I am using the Sgraffito technique to carve intricate floral patterns or hand-sculpting a tiny fox for a trinket bowl, the process is never hurried. It is slow, often messy, and involves a lot of trial and error. You might notice little quirks in the glaze or an uneven rim, and that is intentional. It is proof that a human hand made this, not a machine.

My Craft & Techniques

  • Houses on Cliff Series: This is my signature style, inspired by trips to the pahad (mountains). These are medium to large stoneware vessels that serve as standalone art pieces or dry vases for your home.
  • Surface Carving: I use Sgraffito and Mishima techniques for my tableware. This is a time-intensive process where I carve through colored slip to reveal the clay beneath, creating tactile, permanent illustrations.
  • Sculptural Details: For my trinket bowls and luminaries, I often use a hybrid of wheel-throwing and hand-building. Those little animals or houses you see are attached by hand.

Care & Usage

Everything I make is stoneware or earthenware, fired to ensure durability. My tableware is lead-free and food-safe, but I recommend hand-washing to preserve the carvings and delicate sculptural elements. If you see something you love here but want a different color or a custom illustration, I am open to commissions. Just reach out, and we can discuss if I can shape your story into clay. I ship across India from my studio in the National Capital Region.

I'm Malvika, and for me, pottery is just a way to spill my thoughts into clay. I don't chase perfection; I chase the messy, honest process of making things that hold memories. If you want something that feels like home, you're in the right place.
