Our Garden Process and Sustainable Materials
A look at the tools, terracotta, and sustainable methods we use to build our miniature gardens in Mumbai.
This whimsical glass terrarium houses a Fittonia plant and some bright green moss. I added two miniature snail figures to create a charming little scene, showing how small details can add personality to a miniature garden.
A look at some of the classic terracotta pots I use for my arrangements. I choose from a variety of shapes and sizes to find the perfect home for each plant, ensuring they have the right environment to thrive.
About Additional Work
We do not just place plants in a container. Every terrarium we build starts with a foundation that ensures long-term health. We use a precise mix of LECA for drainage, activated charcoal to keep the air inside fresh, and our own soil blends. It is this hidden layer that keeps your tiny garden thriving for months without you needing to fuss over it daily.
Gardening is often presented as a mystery, but we believe in being open about how we work. Whether you are looking at our collection of terracotta pots or wondering how we handle drainage for a glass bowl, transparency is part of our commitment to earth care.
Why We Use Terracotta
We often reach for classic terracotta when we aren't using glass. It is breathable, which helps prevent root rot—a common issue in indoor gardening. We stock a wide variety of shapes and sizes because each plant species has different needs. A cactus prefers a shallow, wider pot to spread its roots, while some foliage plants do better in deeper vessels. We match the pot to the plant, not just the aesthetic.
Our Permaculture Approach
Everything we do is guided by permaculture principles. This means we try not to waste. You might see us using old masks as plant ties or repurposed items for structural support in our gardens. When we build your miniature world, we are thinking about the full lifecycle of that arrangement. We select slow-growing, hardy plants like Haworthia or Fittonia that are suited to the low-light conditions found in most Mumbai apartments.
The Care Factor
We don't expect you to be an expert. Every arrangement we create comes with a clear, simple guide. If you have questions about whether a plant needs more sunlight or if your resin waterscape needs a wipe down, we are here to help. Our goal is to bring a piece of nature into your home that is genuinely easy to maintain.
