Vertical & Hanging Gardens for Small Spaces
Bring nature indoors without using floor space. I create living wall setups using upcycled bamboo, glass bubbles, and Kokedama to turn empty walls into green, breathing art.
My glass bubble wall planters are a great way to create a living wall feature. In this hallway, I arranged several open terrariums at different heights, using a mix of plants to add texture and color.
This hanging sculpture uses Kokedama, the Japanese art of moss ball planting. I suspended two of them from a piece of twisted driftwood to create a natural, floating garden that is both a plant holder and a piece of art.
For this balcony, I created a vertical planter using sections of natural bamboo. This setup is ideal for growing herbs or small trailing plants, making efficient use of a narrow wall space.
I love creating calm, green corners like this one. Here, a Kokedama plant sits next to a Buddha statue and other potted tropicals, like a ZZ plant and a Monstera. This arrangement brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the space.
A closer look at three of my wall-mounted bubble planters. The one on the left is a soil-based open terrarium with moss, while the other two demonstrate water propagation with plants growing in clay pebbles and water.
This is a detailed view of an open terrarium designed for a wall. It contains a small Tradescantia plant nestled in moss and soil, all contained within a sleek, bubble-shaped glass vase.
About Wall & Hanging Gardens
Vertical gardening is about choosing the right plant for your specific light conditions, not just picking a pretty pot. Whether you opt for bamboo planters or glass bubbles, I ensure the drainage is reliable and the plants are pre-rooted to withstand your indoor environment, saving you from trial and error.
Vertical space is often overlooked in Mumbai apartments. My approach to wall and hanging gardens is centered on sustainability and functionality. I use treated bamboo sections for a rustic, earthy feel, which are lightweight and perfect for trailing vines like Pothos. For a more modern aesthetic, I use glass bubble planters. These can be set up as hydroponic units with clay pebbles or soil-based open terrariums, depending on your wall's light levels.
The Japanese art of Kokedama also features heavily in my hanging collections. By binding plant roots in moss and string, we eliminate the need for heavy plastic pots, creating a floating garden effect that looks great against neutral walls.
Everything is built on the Permaculture principle of efficiency. I focus on propagation and reuse, ensuring your new garden does not require a steep learning curve. If you have a specific wall or a dim lobby that needs life, I help you select plants that are air-purifying and hardy, ensuring your living art stays vibrant without daily fuss.
