Miniature Gardens and Sustainable Home Greenery
Bring a slice of nature into your home with my tiny, self-sustaining green worlds. Whether you have a desk corner or a blank wall, these miniature gardens add life without the heavy maintenance.
This is one of my favorite creations, a miniature beach scene in a glass bowl. I used resin to craft a realistic water effect around a porous rock waterfall, adding real seashells and tiny fish figures to complete the coastal landscape. The surrounding tropical plants, like the small palm and bromeliad, are low maintenance and bring the whole scene to life.
I designed this hanging wall art to be a living sculpture. It features two Kokedama moss balls, each with a hardy, air-loving plant, suspended from a piece of twisted driftwood. The little bird figures add a touch of whimsy, making this a unique piece of vertical garden decor for any empty wall.
Here is how my glass bubble wall planters can transform a hallway into a green gallery. These open terrariums are perfect for small spaces and can be arranged in any pattern you like. I’ve used a mix of soil-based and water-propagated plants here to create a varied and dynamic display.
This dish garden is built around a young Peepal tree, trained as a miniature bonsai. I created a small landscape for it with natural rocks and a tiny resin pond, making it look like a peaceful scene from nature. It’s a perfect, serene centerpiece for a desk or coffee table.
A closer look at one of my enclosed glass terrariums. I’ve planted a Fittonia, or nerve plant, known for its striking leaf patterns, alongside some lush green moss. The two little snail figures add a playful touch to this tiny, self-sustaining ecosystem.
This large ceramic bowl is filled with a mix of evergreen tropical foliage, including a vibrant fern and a red-leafed Aglaonema. I design these lush bowl gardens to be beautiful from all angles, creating a dense, forest-like feel that works well as a floor planter or a statement piece.
Hi. Here are a few indoor plants I just finished potting up in my balcony garden. These are all varieties that don't need much water, so they are quite easy to care for. I'm giving them a little water today to help them settle in after being repotted.
About Featured
Every piece I build, whether it is a closed glass ecosystem or an open bowl, goes through a 3 to 4 day acclimatization period before it reaches your home. This ensures the plants are settled, roots are stable, and the miniature world is ready to thrive in your indoor environment from day one.
My approach to these miniature gardens is rooted in permaculture principles, which means I prioritize sustainability in every step. I rarely buy new containers if I can help it, choosing instead to reuse glass jars, bowls, and even upcycled materials to create my landscapes.
Styles and Plant Selection
I mostly work with hardy, tropical plants. You will find resilient varieties like Fittonia, Jade, Haworthia, and different ferns nestled into my arrangements. These plants are chosen because they prefer consistent, indirect light and do not need daily watering.
For glass terrariums, I use a precise layering technique. A base of LECA provides drainage, activated charcoal filters the water to keep the environment fresh, and a specialized potting mix supports healthy growth. If you are looking at my resin waterscapes, these are designed to be viewable from the top, featuring realistic water effects cured from epoxy resin and hardscaped with natural rocks and bonsai-style vegetation.
Caring for Your Tiny World
You do not need a green thumb to keep these alive. Each arrangement comes with a simple care guide tailored to that specific ecosystem. Whether it is a wall-mounted bamboo planter or a desk-top dish garden, the goal is to create a peaceful, living corner that helps you connect with nature, even in the middle of a busy city apartment.
