Hurdles are not just for hurdlers. See how we use these drills to build rhythm, explosive power, and perfect running mechanics for athletes of all levels.

Catch them young. We set the right hurdling technique at a younger age to build a strong foundation for future success.

Synchronized hurdle mobility drills. These exercises are valuable for all runners to improve speed, agility, and coordination.

The fear of a little punishment always works. A fun but firm approach to making sure the hurdle coordination drills are done correctly.

Every athlete needs hurdle drills to improve sprint mechanics, enhance hip mobility, boost coordination, and develop balance.

Why hurdle drills? They unlock speed, rhythm, flexibility, and power. A must for every serious athlete.

Hurdle drills improve stride length, enhance hip mobility, boost coordination, and strengthen stabilizer muscles to reduce injury risk.

Hurdle stretches are essential for targeting the hip flexors, hamstrings, and glutes, leading to better stride length and knee lift.

Working on the adductor muscles with hurdle stretches. This is crucial for strength, stability, and injury prevention.

About Agility & Coordination: Hurdle Drills

You will notice in these images that we are not just hopping over hurdles to look busy. We are strictly correcting hip angles and stride length. If your child’s running mechanics are sloppy, these exercises are corrective tools to stop them from picking up bad habits early on. We focus on the adductor muscles and knee lift to ensure they don't just run, but explode off the ground.

Many people think hurdle drills are only for professional athletes. Dekho, that is wrong. I use these drills for every single one of my students at the GD Goenka and IIT Delhi tracks because they are the fastest way to fix poor form.

When we run, the body is usually in 'survival mode'—it compensates for weak stabilizer muscles by shortening the stride. Hurdle drills force the body to open up. By using mini-hurdles and varied heights, we train the hip flexors, glutes, and hamstrings to engage fully. This directly translates to longer strides and faster times on the track.

Why these drills work:

  • Hip Mobility: We unlock the range of motion that stiff, gym-bound muscles often lose.
  • Rhythm & Coordination: Sprinting is a skill, not just raw effort. These drills force the brain-body connection to synchronize.
  • Injury Prevention: By strengthening the stabilizing muscles around the hip, we protect the athlete from common sprint injuries like hamstring pulls.

I personally oversee the curriculum for these sessions. We don't do 'masti' during the drills—that comes after the work is done. If you are serious about technique, we will fix your form.
