When we start a portrait, my goal is to capture the expression that defines the subject. I use an underpainting technique to map out the structure and depth before moving to the final color layers, ensuring every feature feels alive. Whether it is a boardroom tribute or a personal gift, I share photos of the work-in-progress so you see the portrait evolve in real-time.

My approach to portraiture is built on patience and layering. For large, formal commissions, I spend 80 to 100 hours focusing on fine details like skin translucency and fabric textures. This is not about rushing to a finish line. It is about using high-quality oils on premium deep-edge canvas to ensure your piece is archival and looks just as vibrant decades later.

The Commission Process

Every project begins with a 30 to 45-minute consultation. We discuss the context of the painting, whether it is for a boardroom or a private home, and look at your reference photos. If you are doing a large commission, I create a digital mockup, overlaying the sketch onto a photo of your wall so you know exactly how the scale fits your space.

Technical Details

I offer three main tiers of portrait work:

• Medium Custom Decor: A 24x30 inch piece perfect for standard wall spaces, usually completed in 20-25 hours.
• Large Detailed Figurative: A 36x48 inch centerpiece that utilizes grisaille underpainting to build depth, requiring 50-70 hours.
• Legacy Tribute: A 48x48 inch museum-grade oil portrait. This involves a reference audit of multiple photos to capture the perfect likeness and micro-expressions.

All my work comes varnished and ready to hang with professional D-rings. I am based in the Mumbai Metropolitan Area but I ship across India.
