When I work on a spiritual commission, I don’t just paint a figure; I create a space. We start with a 30-minute consultation to align on the emotion and significance you want the piece to hold. Before I touch the canvas, I share compositional sketches so we’re both completely clear on the vision. Whether it’s a meditative Buddha or a traditional Guru-Shishya scene, I use techniques like underpainting to build depth, and I’ll send you work-in-progress photos so you can watch the story unfold on the canvas before it ever leaves my studio.
My Approach to Spiritual Art
For me, spiritual art is about intention. It’s not just about getting the proportions right; it’s about capturing a sense of calm, stillness, or reverence that changes the energy of a room. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful Mahavir Swami to center a meditation space or a traditional Guru-Shishya composition for a thoughtful gift, I approach every commission with the same devotion.
The Process
- Conceptualization: We start with a conversation about what you want to feel when you look at the painting.
- The Foundation: I use an underpainting technique to set the light and shadow values before adding color. This builds the luminosity that makes a piece feel alive.
- Updates: You won't be guessing what the final piece looks like. I share regular updates, from the initial sketch to the final varnish.
Customization & Mediums
I primarily use high-quality oils or acrylics on cotton canvas, depending on whether you want a textured, impressionistic feel or a smooth, hyper-realistic finish. Every painting is finished with two coats of UV-protective varnish so it stays vibrant for years. If you need a specific size to fit a nook or a large statement piece for a living room wall, we can work out the dimensions together.
My studio is based in Mumbai, but I ship these commissioned pieces safely across India. Every canvas arrives gallery-wrapped, pre-wired, and ready to hang.
