I transform your cherished photographs into timeless, hand-painted acrylic portraits. Whether it is an individual tribute or a celebration of a couple, my focus remains on capturing the genuine likeness and spirit of the subject on canvas.

This is a commissioned portrait, 48 by 36 inches, in acrylic on canvas. I am seen here with the finished piece, which was created to capture a cherished memory for the clients.

The completed 48 by 36-inch commissioned couple portrait. My focus was on creating a realistic depiction, paying close attention to the traditional attire and the warm interaction between the subjects.

About Custom Portraits on Canvas

Every portrait begins with a conversation about the subject's personality, not just their appearance. Because I work with professional-grade acrylics on high-quality cotton canvas, I have the flexibility to adjust the background or composition to match the specific setting where you plan to display the finished piece, ensuring it complements your home's decor.

My approach to portraiture is rooted in the technical precision I acquired at the Sir J.J. School of Art, yet it is driven by a desire to create a lasting heirloom. Unlike digital prints, an acrylic painting holds physical depth and texture. When you commission a piece, I study the photographs you provide to understand the lighting, the attire, and the specific emotion you want to preserve.

The process is collaborative. We first decide on the dimensions, whether you need a statement piece for a living room wall or a smaller, intimate portrait, and discuss the desired mood. I use fine-grain cotton canvas and apply a non-yellowing varnish to protect the work from dust, moisture, and UV light. This ensures the painting maintains its vibrancy for years to come.

I deliver these works as rolled canvases in secure PVC tubes, which is the safest way to ship artwork across India. This allows you the freedom to choose a frame that fits your existing interiors. Whether it is a traditional saree, specific attire, or a captured expression that you want to immortalize, my role is to interpret that visual memory into a permanent physical form.

I’m Pratap. My background in contemporary painting allows me to move beyond simple replication of a photo. When I work on your portrait, I look for the small nuances, the way a person smiles or holds themselves, that make the image truly theirs.
