Painting Workshops: Watercolor and Acrylic Art in Jayanagar
At Fine Arts Gurukul, we approach painting as a practice, not a quick hobby. Join us in Jayanagar to explore the flow of watercolors and the depth of acrylics in an environment where mistakes are simply part of the journey.
A still life arrangement prepared for a drawing and painting class. We teach students to observe the interplay of light, shadow, texture, and reflection on different objects, a crucial step in creating realistic artwork.
This delicate watercolor still life, created by a student in our professional painting class, demonstrates a mastery of transparency and light. The composition beautifully balances the forms of the fruit and pitcher.
Come paint with us. This video shows the fluid and often unpredictable nature of watercolors. Our students learn to control this medium to create beautiful studies of birds, fruits, and trees under expert guidance.
A student explores the bold and vibrant medium of acrylics. This landscape painting comes to life with layers of color, capturing the depth of the mountains and the brightness of the sky.
A student works on a watercolor portrait, carefully layering colors to build skin tones and capture the subject's expression. This demonstrates the focused practice required for portraiture.
"Peddamma." Watch the process of an acrylic portrait coming to life, from the initial layers to the final, delicate details. This piece by artist Kavitha Jetti is an offering of devotion and skill.
A work in progress, this acrylic portrait is inspired by the style of artist S. Ilayaraja. The close-up shows the careful brushwork used to capture the warmth and expression in the subject's eyes.
About this collection
Whether you are working with watercolors or acrylics, our approach centers on the discipline of observation. We ask students to put away the eraser. By letting the wrong lines remain, you learn to trust your hand and understand form before you attempt to correct it. It is a shift from chasing perfection to embracing the process of creation.
In our Jayanagar studio, the environment is set for focus. We maintain a space free from the distractions of a commercial environment, allowing you to treat art as a form of meditation.
Our Painting Methodology
For our painting modules, we break down complex subjects into fundamental studies:
- Watercolor Techniques: These sessions focus on managing transparency and water control. You will learn to handle the medium's unpredictability, turning spontaneous marks into deliberate stylistic choices.
- Acrylic Fundamentals: These sessions focus on layering and building depth. Acrylics offer versatility for those who prefer opaque mediums, and we guide you through color mixing and canvas preparation.
- Study of Form: If you join our diploma or foundation courses, you are not just painting a picture; you are building a vocabulary of shapes, anatomy, perspective, and light.
We also take our practice outdoors. If you prefer to learn from nature, our weekend plein air sessions at Cubbon Park allow you to apply these techniques to landscapes, capturing movement and natural light in real-time. Whether you are a professional or a complete beginner, our studio provides a structured path to rediscover your creativity.
Fine Arts Gurukul
At Fine Arts Gurukul, we treat every painting session as a sadhana. We do not run a competition-driven school; we offer a space to learn the discipline of art, whether you are starting with a blank canvas or refining your brushwork.
