Watercolor and Oil Painting Classes in Bengaluru
Explore the vibrancy of watercolors and the richness of oils in my guided workshops. Whether you want to master skin tones or fine brushwork, I help you find your personal style.
This is a customized oil painting of the great scientist C.V. Raman, which I created with a traditional Tanjore painting style border. It shows how we can blend classical portraiture with traditional Indian art elements.
A framed oil painting I exhibited at the Chithra Santhe art market in Bangalore. This piece captures a quiet moment of a woman stringing flowers, focusing on the rich colors of her saree and the warm light.
Another one of my large, framed paintings from the Chithra Santhe exhibition. This work depicts two women against a backdrop of temple carvings, exploring cultural themes and detailed traditional attire.
A display of my various watercolor paintings at the Chithra Santhe. You can see a range of subjects, from floral art to landscapes, which are all part of the foundational skills we build for portraiture.
About Exploring Color: Watercolors & Oils
In my advanced 15-hour painting course, we focus on the mechanics of light and shadow, teaching you how to mix realistic skin tones and understand color temperature. You will learn the 'fat over lean' rule for oils or wet-on-wet techniques for watercolors, ensuring your portrait work carries real depth.
My painting workshops are designed for those who have the basics and want to move into more complex, realistic work. Painting is not just about copying a reference; it is about learning how colors interact and how light changes the mood of a portrait.
In the 15-hour module, we split our time between understanding color theory and the practical application of paint. For those choosing oils, we focus on layering, patience, and blending. If you prefer watercolors, we work on transparency, wash intensity, and knowing exactly when to leave the paper white.
Classes take place in my home studio in HAL 3rd Stage, Indiranagar. I keep groups small, between 3 to 5 students, so I can provide personal feedback on every stroke. We provide the canvas boards and essential studio supplies like linseed oil and masking fluid. You just need to bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. By the end, you will have a finished portrait that reflects your unique style.
