Building Active Bodies and Happy Minds at Eka
We believe physical movement is the foundation of cognitive development. From our custom climbing wall to sensory water play, we create space for children to move, explore, and find their rhythm.
Splish, splash, it's a pool day bash. Water play is a favorite at Eka, especially for our new children who are exploring and getting comfortable. It's a day of pure joy, laughter, and sensory fun.
Our outdoor space is designed for creativity and exploration. From the chalkboard wall to the activity board and sand pit, children are encouraged to play, create, and flourish in a supportive environment.
As the temperatures rise, our pool is the best place to be. The children love jumping in and splashing around. These moments of pure, unstructured fun are essential for a happy childhood.
Our annual Sports Day is a celebration of music, movement, and sportsmanship. Children participate in drills, races, and team activities, learning about perseverance, strength, and the joy of physical activity.

Movement brings liberation and joy. Part 3 of our Sports Day highlights shows children engaged in various physical activities, building strength, effort, and a can-do attitude.
Part 2 of our Sports Day captures the excitement of the medal ceremony. Every child is a champion, and we celebrate their participation, effort, and the spirit of sportsmanship.
Part 1 of our Sports Day captures the energy and spirit of the event. Physical activity is a cornerstone of our holistic approach, helping children develop coordination, teamwork, and a love for being active.
With rising temperatures, the children loved our pool party. The smiles and laughter say it all. Water play is a fantastic way for them to cool down, have fun, and engage in sensory exploration.
About Active Bodies, Happy Minds
Our approach to physical activity is integrated into every part of the day rather than confined to a single hour of sport. Whether it is navigating our climbing wall in Kumarapark West, learning to pour water during Practical Life exercises, or running through the grass on Sports Day, we focus on helping children gain confidence in what their bodies can do.
At Eka, we view physical development through a Montessori lens. Movement is not just about burning energy; it is about brain development and the refinement of coordination. Our campus in Seshadripuram is designed to be an extension of the classroom, where the outdoor space is just as significant as the library or the math area.
Why Movement Matters
Scientific Montessori materials help children refine their fine motor skills through tasks like spooning and pouring. However, gross motor skills require space and freedom. Our climbing wall and outdoor play area allow children to practice risk assessment, spatial awareness, and balance. It is common to see a toddler hesitate before stepping onto the climbing structure, only to try again, adjust their grip, and succeed. That moment of self-correction is where the real learning happens.
Sports and Teamwork
Our Sports Day events are not designed as high-pressure competitions. Instead, they are celebrations of effort. When we organize races, drills, or hurdles, we emphasize the process. We want children to feel the joy of running, the satisfaction of a goal achieved, and the empathy of supporting a peer who might be slower. By combining physical education with rhythm and music, such as our SaPa Music program collaborations, we help children connect their physical movements to creative expression.
Sensory Play
We make sure children get plenty of tactile, sensory-rich physical play. Our regular water play sessions are more than just cooling down; they provide a perfect environment for sensory integration and social engagement, where children negotiate space and materials in the water with their friends. We prioritize these moments of joyful, unstructured play because they build the happy minds that will eventually walk into our classrooms ready to learn.
Eka Montessori
I am Eka Montessori. For 11 years in Seshadripuram, we have created a space where children are free to climb, run, and learn through doing. We know that an active body leads to a focused, happy mind, so we make sure movement is woven into every single day.
