Movement, Music & Play Programs for Children
A child’s body and mind are deeply connected. Our days are filled with song, dance, and outdoor play, designed to build coordination, rhythm, and confidence in a non-competitive, supportive environment.
A group of children participates in a movement and dance session. These activities help them develop body awareness, coordination, and express themselves through physical motion.
Mondays are for moving our bodies. This video captures the energy of our group dance sessions, but also the incredible focus of a child who remains engaged with her own work amidst the activity, a true testament to Montessori concentration.
We believe children are natural imitators. During our Yoga Day celebrations, our little yogis stretched and bent, proving that a healthy practice can be started at any age.
A windy day provides a perfect opportunity for free play. Here, children are chasing leaves, dancing, and enjoying the simple pleasure of being outdoors and moving their bodies.
A glimpse of the fun and games at our summer camp. Outdoor play is a crucial part of our day, allowing children to run, jump, and develop their physical abilities.
A special music session with a guest guitarist. Live music captivates children, and they loved singing, dancing, and even getting to strum the guitar themselves.
Our Christmas carnival was full of fun games like ring toss and Twister. These activities are not just for fun; they also help develop coordination, balance, and strategic thinking.
About this collection
Here, play is purposeful. Whether it is our outdoor sports sessions where parents join in, or quiet indoor music circles, every activity is structured to help your child develop gross motor skills and social awareness. We do not focus on winning or ranking; instead, we prioritize the sheer delight of movement and the rhythm of learning together as a community.
Maria Montessori often spoke about the child as an explorer whose development depends on active interaction with the environment. Movement is the first vehicle for this interaction. At Nivriti Montessori in Kasavanahalli, we do not treat play as a break from academics; it is the core of our educational approach.
Why Movement Matters
For children aged 2 to 12, physical activity is essential for developing proprioception, balance, and spatial awareness. Our outdoor turf on Sarjapur Road is a space where children engage in free play, traditional games, and structured sessions like our annual Sports Fiesta. We observe that children who have the freedom to jump, hop, and dance are often more focused and calm during their indoor Montessori work cycles.
Music as a Language
Music is a universal language that builds bridges. We invite guest musicians, such as guitarists, to lead sessions where children learn to listen, find a rhythm, and express themselves. These aren't passive concerts; we encourage children to strum instruments, sing together, and incorporate movement into the melody. It is about feeling the music, not just hearing it.
A Non-Competitive Community
Our events, such as Yoga Day or the Sports Fiesta, involve parents, grandparents, and mentors alike. We intentionally design these moments to be inclusive rather than competitive. When a child learns to hula hoop, participates in a yoga stretch, or plays a team game, the goal is not to be the fastest or the best. The goal is to participate, collaborate, and experience the joy of the activity itself. This fosters a sense of belonging and confidence, proving that learning can be both rigorous and incredibly fun.
Nivriti Montessori
We believe children are natural explorers, and our campus is designed for exactly that. My team and I focus on creating a space where your child feels safe enough to run, sing, and express themselves fully. We are not just teaching them; we are growing together in this journey.
