Meet Raghavendra, a Karnataka State Award-winning artist dedicated to preserving the intricate, devotional techniques of authentic Mysore painting.

Looking back at the moment when my father, Raghavendra B.B., chose to embrace Mysore painting full-time. His dedication and artistry have brought tradition to life in every stroke.

A candid moment in our workshop. I, Amulya, am seen here with my father as he works, coordinating with clients to ensure their vision is perfectly captured.

About The Artist & His Legacy

When you commission a painting, you are getting an artwork created with 24kt gold leaf and traditional gesso embossing. Each piece follows the ancient process I have mastered over 35 years, from hand-sketching the deity to the final application of real gold, ensuring the radiance you see in these photos lasts for generations.

My journey began with a formal education in fine arts at Chitrakala Parishath in Bengaluru. However, the real training happened through decades of daily practice, focus, and adherence to traditional principles. I do not mass-produce; I create.

Every commission I undertake is a process that involves three distinct stages:

  1. The Foundation: I begin by sketching the deity by hand. This is where I define the expression—the 'Satvik' or peaceful look that defines my work.
  2. The Relief: Using the traditional gesso technique, I create the raised details on the board. This gives the jewelry, crowns, and architectural elements a 3D texture you can feel, adding depth that standard paintings lack.
  3. The Gold: I apply 24kt gold leaf carefully. This is not just for shine; it is a respectful offering. It creates a warm, divine glow that remains vibrant, unlike synthetic alternatives.

Over the last 35 years, this dedication has been recognized with honors like the Karnataka State Award and the Y. Subramanya Raju Award. My goal is to bring that same level of history and craft into your pooja room or home. Whether you need a specific deity for a prayer space or a large-scale piece for a foyer, I approach every project with the same seriousness and devotion.
