About Authentic Tanjore Paintings
Since I use traditional layering, intricate muck work, and real 22ct gold foil, I need 3 to 4 weeks to complete your piece. I don't rush the drying or the gold application, as I want the final artwork—whether it is a Goddess Lakshmi or a traditional Kolam—to be a radiant, lasting addition to your pooja room.
Authentic Tanjore painting is a labor of love that cannot be mass-produced. When you commission a piece, you are investing in a process that dates back centuries. The foundation is a sturdy board on which I apply the 'muck work'—a mixture of limestone paste and adhesive. This is what creates that signature 3D relief effect which catches the light so beautifully.
Once the relief work is set, I carefully apply genuine 22-carat gold foil sheets. This is the stage where the painting truly transforms from a flat image into a divine heirloom. To finish, I inlay Jaipur semi-precious Kundan stones and apply vibrant, traditional colors to the figures. Every stroke and every stone is placed with intention.
Whether you are looking for a specific deity like Mahalakshmi for your pooja space, a sacred Aishwarya Kolam to bring prosperity, or a personalized piece based on a traditional theme, we can work together to design it. Because these are built to last for generations, I use high-quality teak wood frames with glass protection, ensuring your painting stays preserved as a piece of history in your home.
