About Professional Engagements & Press
When I perform, I am always joined by a professional Tabla artist to ensure the rhythmic foundation is authentic to the Raag. If you are planning an event, please note that I require a standard stage setup with three microphones and monitor speakers, whether it is for a university lecture-demonstration or a formal corporate recital.
My engagements are rarely just solo recitals. Whether I am performing for the SPIC MACAY classical series at institutions like NIIT Warangal and Hindu College or contributing to bilateral cultural events at Hyderabad House, my focus remains on keeping the music grounded in its original, pure form. I view every performance as an opportunity to share Hindustani classical music with a wider audience.
The Lecture-Demonstration Format
Many of my engagements are structured as lecture-demonstrations. These are not passive concerts. I blend performance with conversation to demystify the Sitar, explaining the nuances of the Raag, the mechanics of the instrument, and the significance of Tala. These sessions are designed for students and curious listeners who want to understand the 'why' behind the sound.
Practical Requirements for Organizers
If you are considering hosting a recital or an educational event, please consider the following:
- Space: I require a carpeted raised platform where I can sit cross-legged comfortably with my instrument.
- Sound: A professional PA system is essential for a high-quality experience. I use three microphones to capture the full range of the Sitar.
- Accompaniment: I exclusively perform with a professional Tabla artist to provide the necessary rhythmic interplay.
I travel extensively across Delhi-NCR and throughout India for these performances. If you are interested in having me perform for your institution or event, please reach out to discuss dates and technical requirements.
