About On The Road: Tours, Events & Press

Every stage requires a different approach. What works for a quiet, home-based baithak is quite different from a concert series in a public auditorium. When planning your event, consider the acoustics of your venue; I always provide a technical rider for my performances, especially for larger recitals or jugalbandi ensembles, to ensure the sound is crisp and the depth of the raga is never lost.

My journey with the sitar has taken me from the Kresge Auditorium at MIT to local university concert halls in Patiala and Nainital. These experiences have taught me that the environment directly shapes the music.

Designing Your Event

When you engage me for a performance, the process is collaborative. We select a raga based on the time of day and the atmosphere you wish to create—whether it is a peaceful morning raga for a university gathering or a more energetic evening performance for a public concert.

Performance Formats

  • Intimate Baithaks: Best for private gatherings, these performances allow for a direct, conversational exchange between the sitar, the tabla, and the audience. No amplification is needed, preserving the raw, natural sound of the instrument.
  • Concert Hall Recitals: For larger venues, I utilize a professional sound setup to maintain the nuances of the raga. My performances are often accompanied by senior tabla maestros, ensuring a balanced and structured presentation.
  • Jugalbandi & Fusion: I frequently collaborate with sarod, flute, and percussion artists. These performances require advanced coordination and rehearsal, which I manage to ensure seamless musical dialogue on stage.

Logistics & Planning

I am an A-Grade artist with All India Radio, which reflects the standards I uphold in every event. I handle my own travel logistics within Delhi NCR and across India. For public events, I provide a detailed rider to your technical team well in advance to ensure the sound system supports the specific dynamic range of the sitar.

I believe music is a discipline—a sadhana. I perform to create a shared space where the sitar speaks to the audience, whether it is a quiet home gathering or a stage recital. I invite you to bring this experience to your next event.
