Yoga is a path of discipline and self-connection, rooted in the teachings of Sanatan Dharma. We combine breath, alignment, and intention.

We begin class by chanting "Samgacchadvam," a Vedic mantra for unity and coming together with a shared purpose. This sets a collective intention for our practice.

The practice concludes with Savasana (Corpse Pose), a time for complete surrender. This is the most important asana for integrating the physical work and calming the nervous system.

Students resting in Savasana after the asana practice. This period of stillness is essential for the body and mind to absorb the benefits of the session.

The final moments of class are for rest and integration. Here, students are in Savasana, some using bolsters for support to allow for deeper relaxation.

About The Spiritual Core of Yoga

My classes focus on the mechanics of the body through the lens of tradition. You will notice that we begin with Vedic chanting to set a collective intention for our session. During the asana practice, I move around the studio to provide specific hands-on adjustments, correcting your alignment for poses like Paschimottanasana rather than simply letting you stretch without purpose. This is a space for serious practice, where we prioritize the health of the spine over the appearance of the pose.
