Traditional Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
A preview of my shala, where we combine disciplined asana practice with the spiritual grounding of Sanatan Dharma. Whether you are beginning your journey or deepening your practice, you will find a consistent, focused space here.
This is how we begin our practice, with Surya Namaskar. I guide the class through the sequence, chanting the mantras for each of the twelve postures to honor the sun and warm up the body for the asanas ahead.
The practice of Adho Mukha Vrksasana, or handstand, requires abhyasa, which is dedicated and consistent effort. Here, I demonstrate the alignment and core engagement needed to hold the pose with stability and grace.
Correct alignment is the key to a safe and beneficial practice. I provide hands-on adjustments to help students understand the posture, such as deepening the twist in Parivrtta Trikonasana or aligning the hips in Parsvottanasana.
In our advanced classes, students build the strength and confidence to hold inversions like Sirsasana, or headstand. Here, you can see students working on different variations, each at their own pace.
We use props like chairs and blocks to make yoga accessible to everyone. For beginners, props help in understanding alignment safely, as seen here in this supported backbend which prepares the body for more advanced poses.
A glimpse into our Hatha yoga community class, with students moving together in Utthita Trikonasana. The focus is on synchronizing breath with movement, creating a collective energy in the shala.
I am demonstrating the mechanics of Paschimottanasana, the seated forward bend. It is important to use the Uddiyana bandha to extend the spine from the tailbone, ensuring a deep and safe stretch for the entire back body.
About this collection
I do not just teach poses; I teach you how to feel them. In every class, I walk the floor to provide hands-on adjustments, ensuring your alignment is correct and safe. Whether you are working on your first Surya Namaskar or refining your headstand, my focus is on guiding your body through the mechanics, not just having you move through a sequence.
My teaching at AumYogaShala in Gurgaon is rooted in tradition. We integrate the structure of Ashtanga Vinyasa with the foundational clarity of Hatha Yoga. You will find that our sessions are technical. I break down complex asanas, teaching you how to engage your bandhas and extend your spine properly. This is not a gym workout.
We open with traditional chanting to set our intention and close with Savasana to let the body absorb the practice. The shala is equipped with mirrors for self-correction, along with belts, blocks, and bolsters to support you. Props are tools for learning, not crutches, and I teach you how to use them to unlock deeper expressions of each posture.
Whether you are a beginner using blocks to find your feet or an advanced practitioner working on arm balances, the goal is the same: abhyasa (consistent practice). I keep group sizes limited so I can get to know each student’s capabilities and limitations. Come with an open mind and a willingness to work. We sweat, we align, and we grow together.
