A staircase is more than a way to move between floors. We design them as anchors that define the mood, rhythm, and flow of your home.

About Sculptural Staircases

A staircase is the most significant vertical movement in a home. We avoid off-the-shelf factory designs, instead treating every flight as a structural sculpture. Whether it is a blackened steel spiral at the Baid residence or a stone-clad landing featuring traditional Sanjhi screens, we balance engineering with tactile materials to ensure the ascent feels intentional, never merely functional.

Architecture lives in the connections between floors. When we approach a staircase, we see it as a transition that deserves as much thought as a primary living space. Our work moves away from utilitarian design, focusing instead on how materials like blackened steel, polished marble, and solid wood interact with the volume of the room.

At the Bammi residence, we integrated Sanjhi paper-cutting art and origami installations directly into the staircase journey. This turns a simple walk to the next floor into an engagement with traditional craft. Similarly, our spiral designs at the Baid residence use industrial steel to create a sharp, modern silhouette that works with the surrounding terracotta and granite.

We plan these designs by studying natural light paths, site lines, and the structural requirements of the void. It is about creating a rhythm in the house where the path between levels feels fluid. If you are planning a renovation or building a home, we suggest discussing the vertical core early in the design phase. It allows us to integrate the stairs into the walls, floors, and lighting plans seamlessly.
