A very personal piece celebrating the arrival of my son, Yuvan. This custom nameplate features a bear family, painted to welcome our newest and most precious family member.
About Custom Portraits: Your Story in Watercolor
To get the best result, send me a few clear, high-resolution photos so I can see the expressions and lighting clearly. I paint on 300GSM Arches paper, which handles water beautifully and ensures your portrait stays vibrant for years. Once we finalize the reference, I will share a pencil sketch for your approval before I pick up my brushes.
I believe that every photo has a story, and painting it brings that story to life in a way a digital print never could. When you commission a watercolor portrait with me, you are not just getting an image on paper; you are getting a piece of handmade art designed to last.
The Process
- Consultation: We discuss the photo. It does not have to be professional—sometimes a candid phone photo captures the best laugh or hug. I look for the emotion, not just the features.
- The Sketch: I always provide a preliminary pencil sketch. This is where we ensure the composition and subjects look right before I apply any pigment.
- The Painting: I use professional Mijello Mission Gold pigments on Arches 300GSM cotton paper. This combination offers rich color saturation and prevents the paper from warping or buckling.
Why Watercolor?
Watercolor is unpredictable and fluid, which makes it perfect for capturing human expressions. It feels honest and alive. I generally ship my portraits unframed, packed securely between rigid boards, so you can choose a frame that matches your home decor perfectly. Whether it is a couple's anniversary gift, a portrait of a beloved pet, or a childhood memory you want to preserve, I treat every piece with the same attention I give to my personal sketches. If you are in Bangalore, we can chat more about specific finishes, but I ship these keepsakes safely across India.
