The pull-up is a fundamental strength builder. My focus is on proper form, teaching you to initiate the pull by opening your chest and squeezing your back, not just using your arms.
The leg extension machine is a great tool for isolating and strengthening the quadriceps. This is important for knee health and providing power for jumping, running, and squatting.
This is a progression towards a planche. It's an advanced bodyweight exercise that requires immense shoulder, arm, and core strength, moving from a straddle to a frog position.
About Building Functional Strength
When we do pull-ups, I am not looking for just reps. I want you to open your chest and squeeze your back to initiate the pull, keeping your spine stable throughout the movement. It is about teaching your body to move with intent, so every rep actually builds strength instead of just tiring you out.

When we train at Yoh Fitness in Richards Town, we utilize the squat racks and cable machines to build raw power. If the weather is right, we head outdoors for bodyweight mastery, planche progressions, and gait correction. I treat the body as a whole system, focusing on spinal articulation and pelvic stability to ensure your core is ready for any athletic demand.
This isn't just for athletes. Beginners start by learning to breathe and move, while pros use my sessions for high-level injury prevention and biomechanical tweaks.
