Advanced Asana & Strength Conditioning Classes
Master complex asanas and functional strength through the disciplined path of the Yogi-Warrior. My training focuses on deep flexibility, core stability, and the precision required for state and national championships.
This is another demonstration of Eka Hasta Padma Mayurasana, a single hand arm balance. The Sanskrit shloka recited speaks to the importance of concentration (Dharana) and one pointed focus (Dhyanam) in achieving such a pose.
A clear demonstration of the entry and hold of Eka Hasta Padma Mayurasana in my shala. This pose is the culmination of strength, balance, and flexibility training.
This video shows the practice of Tittibhasana, or Firefly Pose. It is an arm balance that requires significant hamstring flexibility and core strength to lift the body off the ground.
This video compilation shows various advanced postures, including handstands and arm balances. The shloka recited, 'agrataḥ caturo vedāḥ pṛṣṭhataḥ saśaraṃ dhanuḥ', is my guiding principle: lead with wisdom, but be ready with strength.
Performing Natarajasana, or Lord of the Dance Pose, against the backdrop of the stadium. This posture is a deep backbend and standing balance that opens the shoulders and chest.
A demonstration of the full expression of Natarajasana. This advanced variation requires extensive spinal flexibility and control to bring the foot to the head.
Holding Natarajasana during my personal practice at home. Consistent daily practice is essential to maintain and deepen these advanced postures.
About this collection
Advanced practice is not about rushing into poses, but building the structural integrity to hold them safely. My sessions integrate partner-assisted stretching and prop work—blocks, straps, and belts—ensuring you develop the range for deep backbends and arm balances without risking injury.
My approach follows the principle of 'agrataḥ caturo vedāḥ pṛṣṭhataḥ saśaraṃ dhanuḥ'—leading with wisdom while remaining ready with strength. This philosophy shapes how we approach advanced postures. Whether you are working toward the arm-balancing strength required for Eka Hasta Padma Mayurasana or the deep spinal flexibility of Natarajasana, the process remains systematic and disciplined.
The Path to Advanced Asanas
We do not simply jump into complex poses. Every session involves specific conditioning to prepare the joints and core. For inversion practice like handstands and forearm balances, we use spotting and partner-assisted drills to build confidence. For backbends, we work extensively on shoulder opening and hip flexor release to ensure the spine is ready for deep compression.
Competitive Excellence
My training is explicitly designed for those looking to compete. As a national-level yogasana athlete, I provide guidance aligned with Yogasana Bharat standards. This includes:
- Precision Drilling: Focus on hold times, alignment, and the specific entry/exit points required in championships.
- Strength Conditioning: Using traditional tools like the gada (club) to build the functional stability required for elite-level balance.
- Safety Protocols: Hands-on adjustments to prevent injury while pushing your limits.
Where We Practice
Classes are held at my Nagarbhavi shala and the Chandra Layout location. Batches are kept to a moderate size of 10 to 15 students, which allows me to provide individual micro-corrections. If you are an athlete looking for cross-training or a serious student aiming for the podium, I invite you to join our community of practitioners.
