Interactive Outdoor Storytelling for Kids in Cubbon Park
Welcome to our little circle under the trees. We don’t just read books here—we live them, with bubbles, wiggles, and plenty of happy chaos. Join us this Saturday at 11 am for stories, songs, and laughter.
Why should you come to Cubbon Tales? To listen, to play, to prance and sing under the blue sky, and to be part of a community. This video captures the spirit of it all.
A quick look at our very first session, capturing the raw energy, the props, and the beginning of our journey. It's a reminder of how we started, with just a mat and a story.
About The Beautiful Chaos of Outdoor Play
Please know that these sessions are outdoors, so we sit on mats and embrace whatever the park throws at us—be it a sudden sprint, a squirrel sighting, or a toddler meltdown. We encourage kids to move, wiggle, and roar, so if you are looking for a formal, sit-still environment, this might not be for you. It’s messy, real, and completely unscripted.
At Cubbon Tales, we believe the best stories are the ones where you get a little dirt on your knees. When we meet under the trees at Cubbon Park, the focus isn’t on sitting perfectly still. It’s about bringing kahaani purani (tales of old) and fresh new stories to life through movement, music, and a bit of sensory play.
What the experience is like: Each 60-minute session is theatrical. I use puppets, props, and voice modulation to pull the kids into the world of the book. But the real magic happens in the 'wiggle breaks.' Whether it’s roaring like a lion or chasing bubbles, we encourage kids to connect with the story physically.
Why we embrace the chaos: If your little one decides to sprint off or needs a break, it is perfectly fine. We’ve had sessions where stories get interrupted by a butterfly chase or a sudden change in mood. That’s the reality of outdoor family storytelling. My goal is to make reading a joyful, accessible ritual rather than a chore. We keep it low-pressure so that everyone—parents and kids alike—feels comfortable and part of the circle.
Practical details:
- Sessions: We gather every Saturday at 11 am.
- What to bring: Bring your energy, a water bottle, and clothes that can get a little grassy.
- Inclusivity: Parents stay with their little ones, so you are part of the story too.
