About Stories for Every Season & Celebration
When we celebrate a festival or a special milestone, the session changes just enough to match the mood. We move beyond just reading to incorporate sensory play, music, and simple crafts that tie into the theme, whether it is the warmth of Diwali, the joy of Holi, or the nostalgia of Children’s Day.
Our storytelling sessions are designed to be more than just a performance. For our festive and seasonal specials, we curate books that explore the heart of the occasion, like harvest festivals, Mother’s Day, or Eid. We want children to connect with the ‘why’ behind these days through interactive activities.
We usually combine these with music, movement, or craft sessions to help kids process the stories. You might find us blowing bubbles, painting, or using props to bring characters to life on our mats. It is not about perfect, sit-still listening; it is about participation. Sometimes that means a child sprinting off to look at a bug or joining in a dance, and that is exactly the kind of energy we love.
Most of our themed sessions are open to parents and grandparents, too. We believe these stories are for everyone. Our ‘Kahaani Puraani’ series, in particular, focuses on bringing ancient tales to a new generation, ensuring that the magic of old stories remains relevant. Since we are in the open air at Cubbon Park, we always keep an eye on the weather and the mood of the group. If it rains or the kids are feeling particularly restless, we adapt on the fly. After all, the best stories are often the ones made up on the spot.

I am Mallika, and I started this with just a mat, some props, and my son. Every weekend at Cubbon Park, I invite you and your family to sit on the grass with us as we breathe life into old tales and make new ones on the spot.
