About Outdoor Fun & Sensory Play
Our outdoor sessions at The Green Pocket are where things get wonderfully messy. We move from our indoor stories to the garden, where children explore textures like mud and natural found objects. It is not just play; it is a sensory experience designed to build tactile skills while they enjoy being in the open air.
We believe that the best classrooms have no walls. While our storytelling often starts inside with props and puppets, we regularly head out into The Green Pocket garden to ground those stories in reality. When we talk about nature, we go out and touch it.
When children engage in mud play, they are doing more than just getting dirty. They are learning about weight, texture, and the physics of the earth. We set up stations with natural items like leaves, flowers, and sticks, letting the children create their own 'mud cakes' or nature art. It builds fine motor skills and encourages independent thinking.
