Timber Edge: Architectural Intervention and Design
Timber Edge stands as a testament to our approach to architectural intervention. We transformed a conventional structure into a dynamic, contemporary residence that prioritizes material honesty and a seamless connection to the outdoors.
The reimagined facade of Timber Edge, where we introduced new layers of timber, concrete, and glass. The design creates a dynamic urban presence, with cantilevered balconies and deep-set windows that add depth and character.
A close-up of the Timber Edge facade at dusk. The warm uplighting on the timber-clad soffits accentuates the home's strong horizontal lines and the dramatic form of the cantilevered balcony.
The interior spaces are designed for sophisticated leisure. This view shows the transition from a lounge area with an Eames chair to an entertainment zone with a pool table, unified by a palette of black marble and reflective surfaces.
This space features a concealed master bedroom entry behind a wall of fluted teak. The bold-veined marble floor and elliptical ceiling forms create a sense of drama and fluidity, showcasing our attention to material and form.
The double-height dining area is a centerpiece of the home, featuring pivoting partitions that can open or close the space. This flexibility allows for both intimate family dinners and larger social gatherings.
This video showcases the floating staircase at Timber Edge. The design is both flawless and fearless, appearing to ascend without visible support, embodying our philosophy of turning functional elements into architectural art.
This suspended vanity with a wrap-around mirror creates an ethereal, spacious feel in the dressing room. The design plays with levitation and reflection, blurring boundaries between the dressing area and the master bedroom beyond.
We design spaces that are dynamic and flexible. This video shows a concealed, sliding door to a bathroom, which disappears into the wall, demonstrating our love for creating clean lines and hidden functionalities.
The family lounge is a composition of luxurious materials, including a timber-slatted ceiling, marble-clad wall, and rich leather sofa. The design creates a warm, inviting space for relaxation.
This lounge area opens onto a terrace, blending indoor and outdoor living. The feature wall of vertical timber slats adds warmth and texture, complemented by a modern circular chandelier and marble-topped coffee table.
About Project: Timber Edge
Timber Edge represents a complete architectural intervention where we stripped back a conventional structure to redefine its spatial logic. We introduced distinct layers of fluted teak, bold-veined marble, and exposed concrete, ensuring each volume maintains a precise balance between privacy and openness. This project is not merely an aesthetic update; we re-engineered the building envelope to incorporate cantilevered balconies that extend the living areas into the landscape while providing deep-set shade.
A Structural Transformation
The Timber Edge project highlights our capability in architectural intervention. Rather than working from a clean slate, we navigated the constraints of an existing structure to impose a new, contemporary identity. By recalibrating the facade and interior layout, we created a residence that functions as a single, cohesive volume, optimized for both tropical climate control and modern living requirements.
Materiality and Light
Our design philosophy centers on the interplay of raw materials and natural light. We utilized fluted teak and exposed concrete to ground the structure, while bold-veined marble adds a refined tactile quality to the interiors. The design avoids ornamentation, allowing the inherent texture of the materials to dictate the character of the space. Large windows and strategically placed skylights ensure that every room receives abundant daylight, reducing the reliance on artificial lighting.
Spatial Articulation
Central to the project is the manipulation of volume and space. The cantilevered balconies provide structural drama and functional outdoor rooms that remain responsive to the local climate. Inside, the inclusion of pivoting partitions and a floating staircase turns everyday circulation paths into sculptural experiences. This project exemplifies our commitment to creating homes that feel both monumental in design and intimately connected to their surroundings.
