About this collection
When I photograph a rescue pet, I am not just taking a photo, I am looking for the one spark that connects with a stranger. It is about patience. Whether it is using squeaky toys to catch a shy pup's attention or waiting for that perfect head tilt, I ensure the personality captured is exactly who they are at home.
Photography is often the first interaction a potential adopter has with a rescue. A shelter environment can be stressful and intimidating, which often masks a pet's true, loving nature. My goal with these sessions is to remove that barrier.
I bring my camera to parks or quiet corners where a rescue dog can relax and show their true character. I use natural light and sometimes a simple, handmade accessory like a bow tie to frame a personality that might otherwise go unnoticed in a busy shelter environment. It is about capturing that 'cuddle bug' or 'explorer' energy so that when someone sees the photo, they do not see a label, they see a companion.
