Feathered & Other Friends: Portrait Sessions for Your Bird
From curious cockatiels to playful chicks, our avian friends have big personalities that deserve to be framed. I take the time to build trust so your bird feels comfortable, never forced.

About this collection
Photographing birds is a delicate dance, not a race. Unlike dogs, our feathered friends need calm, quiet environments to feel secure enough to show their true character. I work entirely at their pace, using gentle, natural lighting to capture that perfect, curious head tilt without ever causing stress or discomfort.
When you have a bird, you know they aren't just pets; they are individuals with moods, distinct voices, and very specific likes. My background in architecture taught me to observe structure and light, but my life with Scamp taught me that a photo is useless if the pet isn't happy.
Why the approach matters
Birds are naturally skittish. A typical studio flash or a loud, busy environment will make them retreat. Instead, I bring the shoot to them—either in a quiet studio space or a secure, natural setting. We don't force poses. We wait. Whether it is a cockatiel like Momo or a curious little chick exploring a garden setup, the goal is to capture the 'soul' of the moment. If that means waiting twenty minutes for them to settle into a branch or a prop, that is time well spent.
The creative side
Just because they are small does not mean we cannot get creative. I love setting up themed scenes—like the garden truck or the spring-themed setups you see in the gallery. These aren't just props; they are environments where your bird feels comfortable exploring. The result is a fine-art quality image that reflects their personality, not just a blurry shot on a cage wire.
What to expect
Every session begins with a conversation about your bird's triggers and personality. We discuss where they are most comfortable, what music or sounds they enjoy, and what brings out their natural curiosity. I use high-frame-rate cameras to ensure that even the quickest flutter or song is captured with crystal clarity. My job isn't done until you have a keepsake—whether that is a framed print or a photobook—that turns those blink-and-you-miss-it moments into a permanent part of your home.
Mamta
I’m Mamta. I started my journey as an architect, but now I prefer chasing feathered models around to drawing lines on paper. My camera is just a tool; the real magic happens when I sit quietly, wait for that subtle tilt of the head, and catch a bird’s true character on screen.
