What is the true cost of chemically dyed fast fashion? This animated film explains how a single t-shirt can pollute thousands of liters of water, highlighting the severe environmental impact of the industry.
What is the solution to pollution? The answer is in the shirt I'm wearing, colored with natural indigo. Herbal dyes, made from organic plant waste, offer a true solution to water pollution.
We asked people how much they knew about the fashion industry. This video shares their thoughts and highlights why natural dyes are a biodegradable, healthier alternative to chemical dyes.
We asked people if they knew how polluting the textile industry is. Their answers reveal a growing awareness of the problems, from water pollution to the microplastics shed by polyester.
How much do you know about sustainable textile practices? This video quizzes people on topics like GOTS certification and the carbon footprint of natural versus synthetic dyes.
Slow fashion is a conscious choice for a sustainable future. The first principle is that it puts people first, valuing craftsmanship and ethical production over mass manufacturing.
The second principle of slow fashion is that it fuels artistic innovation. By moving away from trends, it encourages unique, timeless design and creative expression.
The problem of water waste doesn't stop at production. When you wash polyester clothes, they release thousands of plastic microfibers into our waterways, threatening ecosystems.
The fashion industry is a major consumer and poluter of fresh water, using and polluting billions of cubic meters per year. It's time for brands to implement better water management.
Water is used throughout a garment's production process, starting with water-intensive crops like cotton. Choosing natural dyes and sustainable fibers is a way to reduce this water footprint.
About Our Philosophy: A Movement for Mindful Fashion
We work exclusively with natural fibers such as cotton, silk, and linen. Because our process relies on plant-based dyes instead of harsh synthetic chemicals, we cannot treat polyester or synthetic-blend garments. When you reach out to us, please share the fabric composition of your item, and we will let you know if it is suitable for our deep-scouring and natural dyeing process.
Why Choose Natural Dyes
Traditional textile dyeing is one of the most water-intensive and polluting industries in the world. By choosing plant-based methods, you avoid the heavy metals and microplastics that synthetic dyes and polyester fabrics shed into our river systems. Our process starts with deep-scouring to remove industrial softeners, ensuring the fabric is ready to absorb pigments from indigo, madder, or local plant waste.
Our Process
When you bring a garment to our Mysore studio, we treat it with the same care we use for our own organic collection. We offer three primary techniques:
- Solid Over-dyeing: To give a faded piece a vibrant new shade.
- Shibori and Eco-printing: Using natural leaves and resist techniques to create patterns that synthetic printing cannot replicate.
- Stain Camouflage: We use creative placement of natural prints to mask stubborn stains, extending the life of your clothes.
For Designers and Brands
Beyond individual upcycling, we act as a technical resource for brands transitioning to sustainability. Whether you need small-batch fabric yardage dyeing or consultancy on implementing natural dyeing in your production line, we provide the expertise to make the switch. We believe that by teaching these techniques, we can build a more resilient, circular fashion economy in India. If you are a student or a hobbyist, our makerspace in the Hebbal Industrial Area is open for you to learn and experiment.
