Inside Troop HQ: A Space Built for Sustainable Fitness
I built Troop HQ in Domlur to be the gym I always wanted—a quiet, focused place for strength, mobility, and movement. Here is the story behind the space.
Build consistency everywhere, the gym is just the start. This was the vision for Troop HQ: a clean, functional space that inspires you to move, both inside and outside these walls.
Six months of Troop HQ. Here I am setting up the gymnastics rings, one of the core features of our space. It's been amazing to see the community grow.
The morning sun hitting the floor at Troop HQ. I designed the space to be open and full of natural light, creating a calm and focused environment for training.
The build-out process. Here the rubber flooring is being laid down. Every detail was chosen to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing space for our members.
Introducing our founder and head coach. This video tells a bit about my journey from CrossFit to a more sustainable practice, which is the foundation of the Troop philosophy.
My first full training session at the new Troop HQ. It felt surreal to finally be working out in a space that was just a dream a few months earlier.
The countdown begins! This was 10 days before we opened our doors, with the flooring rolled out and ready to go. The excitement was building.
A new chapter beginning. This was me standing in the middle of the construction site that would soon become Troop HQ. It's amazing to look back and see how far it's come.
About The Story of Troop HQ
When I laid out the floor plan for Troop HQ, my priority wasn't fitting as many machines as possible. It was creating room for gymnastics rings and stall bars—the tools that actually help you control your own body. We went with thick, impact-absorbing flooring so you can train barefoot, and kept the space open to catch the morning light because I find that training feels like less of a chore when the environment isn't crowded or dim.
Most gyms are designed for volume, not for movement. When I started building Troop HQ, I wanted to strip away the distractions. I didn't want rows of heavy machines that isolate muscles while ignoring how the body actually functions. Instead, I focused on a facility that allows for true strength and mobility work.
We installed wooden gymnastics rings and Swedish stall bars because they are the foundation of what we do. They teach you to engage your core, balance your weight, and move through ranges of motion that a standard leg press machine simply cannot replicate. The design process was about functionality. I spent time choosing rubber flooring that is firm enough for stability but soft enough for the occasional stumble during handstand practice.
This is a studio in Domlur where we treat training as a long-term discipline. Whether you are working on your first freestanding handstand or learning to use the rings, the environment is meant to support that process. It is not about burning yourself out in an hour, but about building the skills to move well for years to come. We keep the space small and the community focused, so you get the attention you need to correct your form, adjust your alignment, and actually understand why we perform each movement.
