The Handstand Path: Drills & Progressions

Learning a handstand is a skill built with structure, not luck. I break it down with foundational drills like wrist prep, wall holds, and balance work to build your confidence and control upside down.

My Handstand Journey

It took me three years of consistent, often frustrating, work to get my freestanding handstand. This is a look at the real process, the falls, the small wins, and the feeling of finally getting it.

Ring Strength & Control

Gymnastics rings are my go-to for building serious upper body strength and stability. We work on everything from the foundational false grip and support holds to advanced skills like muscle ups and front levers.

Advanced Calisthenics

This is where we explore what the body is capable of. I focus on progressive drills for skills like the planche, handstand pushups, and front levers, building strength and control step by step.

Building Usable Mobility & Flexibility

I believe flexibility should be strong and useful, not just passive. We work on active mobility drills like dragon squats and pancake progressions to unlock new ranges of motion you can actually control.

My Approach to Injury & Longevity

I've had my share of injuries, from tennis elbow to shoulder strains, and they've taught me how to train smarter. My approach is about understanding the "why" behind an injury and using smart, progressive loading to rebuild capacity and prevent future issues.

Workshops & Community Coaching

Training is better together. I host skill-specific workshops and small group classes at Troop HQ, creating a supportive and fun environment where everyone can learn and grow at their own pace.

The Story of Troop HQ

Troop HQ is more than just a gym; it's a space I built from the ground up to be a home for sustainable, mindful movement. This is a look at how it all came together.

Additional Work & Training Logs

A collection of my personal training sessions, progress checks, and thoughts on consistency. This is where I log the daily grind and celebrate the small wins that happen along the way.
