About Award-Winning Project: A Home by the Park
In this residence, we did not just add windows; we engineered the light. The double-height volume and strategic skylights work with the garden to naturally cool the interiors, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day. It is a clear example of how a home can breathe with its surroundings.
This project represents our 'Design to Delivery' philosophy, where every choice is made to connect the inhabitant to the environment. The design centers on the concept of 'Belaku,' our specific term for inviting, life-affirming light into a home.
We utilized a terracotta jali screen on the upper level, which serves a dual purpose. It offers privacy while allowing air to circulate, keeping the home cool even during the peak of summer. The glass walls and double-height ceilings are not just for aesthetics; they physically extend the living space into the garden, making the home feel expansive despite its actual footprint.
We selected materials that age gracefully, using exposed concrete, natural wood, and brick. Each piece of furniture was placed to encourage movement and interaction. For us, this was not just a building project; it was about creating a retreat where the boundary between architecture and nature disappears. Our process begins with detailed sketches and diagrams, ensuring you see the spatial flow before a single brick is laid.
