Creative Saree Upcycling

Don't let your mother's precious silk sarees sit in a cupboard. Let's turn them into new outfits you will love to wear, while keeping the memories intact.

A beautiful example of upcycling. These matching sister dresses were created from an old silk saree, transforming a cherished memory into new, wearable outfits for the next generation.

About this collection

When we work with your heirloom sarees, the priority is preserving the original zari and borders. I personally assess the fabric's condition to determine if it's best suited for a lehenga, half saree, or modern dress, ensuring the piece maintains its heritage while becoming something you'll actually wear again.

Your Saree, Reimagined

Many of us have a silk saree that belonged to a mother or grandmother sitting in a cupboard because it is no longer in style or has a tear in the pallu. I believe these pieces carry too much emotional value to be left untouched.

How We Do It

The process starts with a careful fabric check. Older silks, especially Kanchipuram or Mysore crepe, need specific handling to ensure they do not fray during reconstruction.

  • Fabric Assessment: I check the strength of the fabric to see what it can handle.
  • Design Planning: We decide if the saree is better as a lehenga with heavy flare, a half-saree set, or a modern silhouette.
  • Preserving Borders: The best part of an old saree is often the intricate border. We strategically cut and place these to ensure they remain the highlight of your new outfit.

Why Upcycle?

Beyond the sustainability of reusing fabric, it is about connection. Wearing a piece of your family history to your own wedding, reception, or a family function adds a layer of sentiment you will not get with new fabric. Whether it is converting a heavy silk into a contemporary gown or creating matching sets for a mother and daughter, we make sure the final result feels fresh, comfortable, and uniquely yours.
