Don't let your mother's precious sarees gather dust in a cupboard. I turn vintage handlooms into modern dresses, skirts, and corsets that tell your story.

This dress holds so much history. I designed and created it years ago from a 40-year-old Bengali cotton saree. Wearing it again today, it feels just as pretty and graceful, proving that good design and precious memories are truly timeless.

This saree is incredibly personal. It was my son's swing when he was a baby and I was just starting Kalasthree. Now, I've given it a new life by pairing it with a custom blouse, a beautiful reminder of how far we've come.

A beautiful moment with my partner at Kalasthree. Here, she is wearing a half-saree lehenga that I created by upcycling an old saree. It's a perfect example of how we can transform traditional pieces into stunning new outfits.

Indian handloom prints are my signature. I made this bohemian-style dress on an impulse at work one day, using a beautiful printed fabric. It’s one of my favorite pieces and shows how we can turn any fabric into a vibe.

This saree is as old as I am, a treasure from my mother's wardrobe. I gave it a fresh look by pairing it with a modern, custom-stitched blouse. Upcycling is a beautiful way to honor the past while creating something new.

Wearing my Amma's saree always feels special. To give it my own touch, I paired it with a custom-designed deep V-neck blouse. It's a simple way to update a classic piece and make it feel new again.

About this collection

Before we cut into any heirloom fabric, I conduct a strict feasibility check on the saree fibers and vintage zari. We only proceed if I am certain the fabric can handle the new structure, whether it is a modern gown or a corset, ensuring your memories remain wearable for years to come.

Upcycling is more than just tailoring; it is about respect. Whether it is a 40-year-old Bengali cotton piece or a heavy silk saree from your mother’s collection, I treat each garment with care.

The Transformation Process

When you bring a saree to my studio, we don't just 'cut and stitch.' First, I inspect the vintage fabric for structural strength. Some sarees have spent years in a trunk, and their fibers need to be assessed for wear and tear. Once we confirm the fabric is sound, we rethink the silhouette.

I often convert traditional 6-yard drapes into:

  • Anarkalis and Lehengas: Perfect for festive wear, utilizing the volume of the original fabric.
  • Modern Fusion Sets: Turning borders into hemlines for jackets or skirts.
  • Corsets and Dresses: Using the blouse piece or smaller sections for structure and fit.

Why Upcycle?

Every piece of clothing holds a story. Perhaps it was a saree your mother wore on a special occasion, or the first one you bought with your own salary. By turning these into contemporary outfits, you aren't just saving fabric; you are keeping that history alive. I incorporate premium Santoon or cotton linings to ensure these vintage treasures feel comfortable and breathable for daily wear or long events here in Bengaluru. If you have an old piece that needs a new life, come share its story with me.
