About this collection

When you bring a saree for upcycling, I look at the border placement and fabric condition first. It is not just about cutting the cloth, but about ensuring the original heavy Kanchi border or delicate pallu design highlights the yoke or hemline of your new outfit perfectly. I will guide you on whether a lehenga, gown, or an Indo-Western set works best for the specific saree weight you have.

Saree repurposing is more than just sewing fabric; it is about keeping the sentimental value of your heritage wear while making it functional for today. Whether it is a heavy Kanchi silk that is too difficult to drape for daily events or a sentimental cotton piece you cannot bring yourself to discard, I ensure every inch of that fabric is used to its full potential.

My Process

When we start, we check the fabric strength and drape. For silk sarees, I often suggest structured lehengas with can-can for volume or floor-length gowns that utilize the border for the hemline. If you have a specific event in mind, we can plan the yoke detailing and neck patterns to match your style.

Customization Options

  • Gowns & Dresses: Perfect for converting 6 yards into floor-length Anarkalis or modern Indo-Western dresses with princess-cut padding.
  • Kids' Lehengas: I use the saree length to create lehengas with soft linings and growth-friendly margins, ensuring your child can wear them for a while.
  • Coordinated Sets: We can split one large saree into matching mother-daughter outfits or sibling sets, ensuring the border distribution looks balanced on both pieces.

Why Choose Upcycling

It is the most sustainable way to build a wardrobe. You save money, prevent wastage, and end up with a piece that is truly unique to you. Everything is handled in-house at my Rajajinagar studio, from the initial consultation to the final embroidery and tassle work. If you are unsure what your saree can become, drop by or send me a photo; I will give you an honest take on what works.

I’m Bhavya, and at Attitude, I believe no saree should be forgotten in a cupboard. I love the challenge of taking a traditional six-yard piece and giving it a completely new life as a modern gown or lehenga that you will actually wear.
