A full view of a gorgeous half saree, or langa voni, created from an old saree. The client wanted a bright, festive look, so we paired a vibrant red dupatta and blouse with a contrasting turquoise pleated skirt, highlighting the original saree's gold border.

When I work with your silk saree, it is not just about cutting fabric. I focus on strategically positioning the pallu and border for the bodice and sleeves so the original design stays intact. You bring me the saree, and we sit down to figure out exactly where the motifs go, ensuring you get a fresh look that still feels like your favorite heirloom.
Transforming a saree is a collaborative process. We start by looking at the quality and length of your silk saree to decide on the best silhouette. Whether you want a traditional langa voni style, a modern pleated lehenga, or a kalidar skirt, I ensure the structural integrity matches the beauty of the fabric.
I build these outfits with the same care as a fresh bridal set. Every skirt gets heavy-duty can-can mesh for that perfect flare and a sturdy canvas waistband to keep the pleats crisp all day. For the blouse, I use high-quality padding and canvas fusing for a wrinkle-free fit. If you have a dupatta from the original saree or need a new one to match, we can finish it with piping and custom tassels made from the leftover fabric scrap.
Since these are custom-made in my Jayanagar studio, I prioritize comfort as much as style. I include dual lining with a soft cotton inner layer so you can stay comfortable through long wedding hours or festive poojas.
If you are worried about the fabric not being enough, do not stress. During our consultation, we map out the motif placement to maximize the yardage. For those looking for extra flair, we can add zardosi, beadwork, or even hand-painted Tanjore art to make the piece truly one-of-a-kind. It is about creating something that you can wear with pride, knowing the history behind every stitch.
