About Our State-of-the-Art Facility
You are not just observing machinery here, you are operating it. Our workshop provides dedicated workbench space and access to industrial-grade Biesse CNC routers alongside a complete kit of hand tools, allowing you to execute complex joinery and panel processing in a real-world manufacturing environment.
Our facility is located inside the Institute of Wood Science and Technology (IWST), providing an authentic environment for serious woodworkers. We designed the layout to facilitate a smooth workflow, from raw material processing to final finishing.
The Workshop Environment
Every student gets a dedicated workbench and tool set. We believe that mastery comes from repetition and direct contact with materials, which is why our floor is set up for continuous practical work rather than classroom lectures.
Industrial Machinery & Equipment
We maintain a mix of essential hand tools and high-end machinery to reflect actual industry standards:
- Panel Processing: Equipped with industrial-grade panel saws for precision cutting on plywood, MDF, and particle board.
- CNC Specialization: Access to Biesse machinery for advanced 3D programming and toolpath generation.
- Traditional Shop: A full range of chisels, planes, and saws used for teaching joinery techniques like Mortise and Tenon and Dovetails.
Safety and Workflow
We enforce strict industrial safety protocols. You will learn to handle surface planers, thicknessers, and bandsaws with the same attention to detail required in a production furniture factory. Our focus remains on creating functional, well-constructed furniture while maintaining an organized, efficient workspace that prepares you for professional furniture production or advanced hobbyist projects.
