Theatre, Poetry & Spoken Word in Indiranagar
We believe stories belong on a stage. From hard-hitting theatre to our monthly open mic nights, our intimate auditorium is a space for Bangalore’s voices to be heard, felt, and shared.
'Butter & Mashed Banana', a sharp, musical, and moving theatrical reading. We provide a space for experimental formats like rehearsed readings that dive into themes of politics, censorship, and identity.
We support emerging talent from across the globe. 'The Final Riddle & Mr. Seagull' were two short plays by NYU Tisch drama students, offering heartfelt storytelling and fresh voices on our stage.
'It's Not You, It's Me' by Yours Truly Theatre is a play about modern love and 'situationships', drawn from real stories. Our theatre events often reflect contemporary life with humour and honesty.
A whimsical journey of folk, song, and everyday wonder. 'The Night We Found Magic' by Jugaad Co. is a heartfelt theatre performance that reminds us of the magic in resilience and love.
We proudly host important and challenging productions like 'The Vagina Monologues'. Our space is dedicated to fostering awareness, dialogue, and solidarity through the power of theatre.

'Inheriting Shadows – Children of the Atom' is a powerful spoken word performance marking 80 years since Hiroshima. We host poetic reckonings that use art to explore history and memory.
A poet lost in their words at our microphone. Our space is designed for intimacy, where every verse shared during a poetry reading or open mic is felt by the audience.

Another edition of 'Let Poetry Be'. We welcome all languages and encourage performers to use music, props, or costumes to enhance their poetry, making it a truly artistic experience.
About On Stage: Theatre, Poetry & Spoken Word
Our auditorium is not a distant, high-stage affair. With 100 seats, you are close enough to hear an actor's whisper or feel the intensity of a poet's pause. We prioritize an acoustic, unplugged feel where the focus stays entirely on the performance and the raw energy in the room, rather than grand production spectacles.
A Space for Every Voice
We built our auditorium to be an extension of our bookstore, a place where the connection between performer and audience is immediate. Whether you are coming to watch a play, listen to a Ghazal, or step up to the mic yourself, the space is designed for participation, not just observation.
Open Mics and Performance
Our 'Let Poetry Be' series has become a fixture in Indiranagar for writers and spoken word artists. We keep the format open because we believe poetry should be accessible. You will see performances in Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and English, often with music or minimal props. It is a place where you can test out a new piece, or simply sit in the audience and feel the collective energy of a roomful of people listening.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book in advance? Some of our events, especially professional theatre productions, require tickets which you can grab online. Our community open mics are often free or donation-based, but we recommend checking our schedule online to see if a registration is required.
Is the seating assigned? We keep seating flexible to match the mood of the event. For some theatre shows, we use standard rows, but for poetry and storytelling, we often shift to informal arrangements or floor seating. First come, first served is usually the norm.
Can I perform at an open mic? Absolutely. We announce themes and open calls for our 'Let Poetry Be' sessions regularly. Just follow our guidelines for submissions, and we will find a spot for you on the stage.
Atta Galatta
We started as a bookstore, but we quickly realized that stories want to be spoken, not just read. Our auditorium is where we trade page-turning for stage-acting, hosting everything from experimental plays to our community-led open mics. Come catch a show, or sign up to share your own verse.
