Iyengar Yoga Practice and Alignment Sessions

About Additional Practice Moments
Notice how I use the metal chair in these photos. It is not for rest, but a tool to create space and allow the body to hold poses longer than it could on its own. Whether you are in our Jayanagar shala or at the Ramanagara centre, these props help you find depth in your asana practice without forcing it.
When you look at these photos, you might see the chair and assume it is for comfort. In the Iyengar tradition, it is quite the opposite. We use chairs, wall ropes, and blocks to gain access to areas of the body that are often restricted. This allows students of all levels to safely work on challenging asanas like supported backbends, deep inversions, and restorative forward bends. By using support, you can hold the pose, breathe, and actually correct your alignment instead of struggling to stay upright.
My teaching at Prashant Yogashraya follows the intensive method I learned from Guruji. Whether we are in the city at Jayanagar or at our nature-focused Ramanagara centre, the focus remains on the intelligence of the practice. If you are a beginner, do not be intimidated by the ropes or the inversions. We work step-by-step. If you are an experienced practitioner, these props help you refine the subtleties of your alignment. My goal is always the same: to help you practice with intelligence, safety, and a steady mind.
