About Tabla Lessons & Workshops
Why Tabla Matters to Me
Tabla’s never been just an instrument for me—it’s my way of expressing, healing, and connecting. What I teach comes from the blessings and wisdom passed down by my Gurus, especially from the Punjab Gharana, but I always bring in flavours from all six major styles. My mother always said, "Achha kiya, aur achha karo" (Did well, now do even better), and that stays with me every time I teach.
Not Just Lessons: The Tabla Therapy Touch
When you learn with me, it’s not the usual music class. I mix tradition with a dash of fun, and my own Tabla Therapy for stress relief. It’s about learning to focus, find calm, and build emotional strength—like tuning yourself as you tune the tabla. This isn’t just for musicians, but for anyone looking to add some rhythm to their life.
How We Learn Together
- One-on-one lessons (online or in Mumbai) for all levels—bachpan waale beginners to pros.
- Group Indian rhythm workshops (online), usually on weekends, great for meeting people worldwide and picking up new ideas. Everyone gets a certificate from my academy.
What We Cover
- Basics: Hand technique, sound, balance.
- Tabla Gharana styles: Peshkaar, Kaidas, Gats, Relas, across all main lineages.
- Rhythm cycles (Taals), tempo (Laya), and how to accompany singers or instrumentalists.
- I’ll show you how to practice smart—not just hard.
Who’s It For
Perfect if you’re keen to learn tabla, whether you’re a total naya (newbie), a dancer, therapist, yoga teacher, or just a rhythm lover wanting something real and rooted.

My Story
Namaskar, I’m Anuradha. Tabla is my world, started with my maa, Ila Pal, always telling me ‘Achha kiya, aur achha karo’ (Did well, do better). At that time, I just wanted a ‘wah!’ but now I get it. No big musical family, just me fighting my way, blessed to learn from Ustad Allarakha ji and Zakir Hussain ji. My family’s patriotism runs deep, so I try to give back, like with ‘Taal Tiranga’. Created Stree Shakti, an all-women band, and now exploring Tabla Therapy for wellness. Tabla is my prayer, my truth.
