About Music Composition & Direction
My Take on Music Composition
For me, music is never just a bunch of notes. It's how I talk, how I share stories from our epics or even what makes a brand feel alive. Every time I compose, it's like starting a new baat-cheet (conversation) with whoever's listening—sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, but always real.
Storytelling with Sound
- Film and Brand Work: I get a real kick out of weaving music into movies and ads. 'Gaja Gamini' was wild—full background score using only tabla and voice, totally hatke (different). Working with big names like A.R. Rahman keeps me on my toes. Composing for brands means I get to mix Indian roots with modern vibes.
- Passion Projects: I love creating thematic audio-visual albums that dive into mythology or spirituality. My 'Ramayan on Tabla' and 'Shiva Shakti on Tabla' aren't your everyday tracks—think nine instruments, poetry, vocals, the works. Mixing tabla with EDM or violins in tracks like 'Kautilya' shows how fusion tabla soundscapes can go viral and still stay true to our roots.
Music Goes Beyond Just Songs
I've done everything from directing live music for Dior's show at Gateway of India to performing jugalbandis (musical duets) with my mom's art. With Stree Shakti, my all-women band, we show what woman power sounds like in Indian music.
My Roots, My Way
Classical music is in my bones because of my Gurus, but I never want to get stuck in the past. Whether it's Indian cinematic music direction or spiritual music composition for a global crowd, I keep pushing to make each track honest, fresh, and packed with feeling.

My Story
Namaskar, I’m Anuradha. Tabla is my world, started with my maa, Ila Pal, always telling me ‘Achha kiya, aur achha karo’ (Did well, do better). At that time, I just wanted a ‘wah!’ but now I get it. No big musical family, just me fighting my way, blessed to learn from Ustad Allarakha ji and Zakir Hussain ji. My family’s patriotism runs deep, so I try to give back, like with ‘Taal Tiranga’. Created Stree Shakti, an all-women band, and now exploring Tabla Therapy for wellness. Tabla is my prayer, my truth.
