About

Where My Sitar Comes From

Music is my prayer - sab kuchh mere Gurujan aur maa-baap ka ashirwad hai (everything is my gurus’ and parents’ blessing). The sitar is not just an instrument for me, it's how I try to express what words can't. Learnt in the Guru-Shishya parampara, my style is a mix of deep tradition and a bit of my own flavour.

What I Play

  • Indian Classical (Shastriya Sangeet): Main focus is on sitar recital for spiritual events and pure classical concerts. Raags like Yaman, Bhimpalas, Miya Malhar - each has its own mood and story.
  • Semi-Classical & Devotional: I play Thumri, Dhun, soulful Bhajans, and Marathi Abhangs. These create a lighter, more emotional feel, and are great for family get-togethers or poojas.
  • Light & Film Instrumentals: Sometimes I love playing sitar covers of Bollywood classics and old Hindi melodies. Makes it a bit fun and connects with everyone.

Types of Events

My music fits public festivals, small baithaks (intimate gatherings), religious celebrations (Diwali Pahat, Ganesh Utsav, Janmashtami), and also works well for corporate or school functions.

Formats

  • Solo on Sitar or Surbahar, for a peaceful vibe
  • Sitar jugalbandi with tabla for a lively, interactive feel
  • Ensemble, adding vocals or flute if you want a bigger sound

Instruments That Speak

I play both sitar (for its brightness) and surbahar (for deep, meditative tones). Every performance is my small effort to bring peace or joy. Galti ho jaaye toh maaf karna (please forgive any mistakes).

My Story

Namaskar. I’m Aniruddha Joshi. Sitar and Surbahar are more than just instruments to me - they’re my lifelong friends. My parents were my first gurus, and I bow to them and my Acharya Pt. Bimlendu Mukherjee. Sometimes after a concert, you’ll find me wandering in Khajuraho or just chilling at a fort in Udaipur, soaking in the vibe. Big festivals or a small Shravan Baithak at home, music connects me to people and places. It’s all a blessing.

My Work

Concerts, Baithaks, Festivals, Devotional Events - I perform solo sitar concerts and Surbahar recitals for all kinds of gatherings, big or small.

Traditional Raags and More - Love playing Raag Yaman, Todi, Bhimpalas, sometimes Abhangs and old film songs too. Humble attempt, mistakes happen, maaf karo (forgive me).

Collaborations and Solo Performances - Sometimes I go solo, other times I jam with young artists. Each show is a new experience.

Music for Social Media - You can use my Indian classical music for social media reels. I post tracks and fun ‘guess the song’ videos too.
