About Concerts & Performances
When I perform, whether it is a solo recital or a jugalbandi, I treat it as a baatcheet or conversation. My goal is to listen, respond, and let the rhythm flow with the mood of the main artist, ensuring that the Ajrada Gharana traditions of complex qaidas and relas remain the heart of the performance.
Performance for me is a way of continuing the riwaaz taught by my gurus. My tabla playing is deeply rooted in the Ajrada Gharana, known for its distinct fingerwork and bols. When you attend a concert, you are not just hearing beats; you are hearing history and a disciplined approach to rhythm.
