About Portraits for Family: A Gift of Love
Keep in mind that the artwork naturally changes from a fresh crimson color to a permanent, warm sepia tone as the blood oxidizes, which is a standard part of the process. I handle every step with the same sterile phlebotomy standards I use for my tattoo work, so whether you visit my studio or send a sample by courier, your safety is guaranteed.
How I Create Your Portrait
I treat every portrait as a unique piece of history. Whether it is a gift for parents, a memorial, or a tribute to a sibling, I work with the blood sample you provide to create a detailed monochrome painting.
The Process
- In-Studio: If you are in Bangalore, you can visit my Nelamangala studio. I use sterile equipment to draw a small, 2ml to 3ml sample. It is quick, clean, and completely safe.
- Remote: If you are outside Bangalore, I provide clear instructions on how to collect and courier a 2ml sample. I have successfully created and shipped portraits to clients across India using this method.
Sizing and Framing
- Standard A4: Best for single subjects or a close-up of a couple. It provides a detailed, intimate look.
- Large A3: Recommended for family compositions or when you want more focus on jewelry, clothing patterns, and fine detail.
Every portrait comes with a high-quality frame and is treated with a protective fixative spray to ensure it lasts. You can also include names, dates, or messages in either Kannada or English to make the gift truly personal. This is often referred to as a 'raktada kaanike' (a gift of blood), and I take that sentiment very seriously.
