Creative Expression and Holistic Learning for Preschoolers
At our HSR centre, we nurture your child's innate curiosity through purposeful play and mindful expression, ensuring they bloom with confidence.
On International Yoga Day, our children practice simple asanas and mindful breathing. Yoga nurtures balance, awareness, and self-control, which are core values in our Montessori method.
Children explore sound recognition with Montessori cylinders and practice braiding. These activities enhance listening skills, fine motor control, and patience.
A child engages in a painting activity, exploring colors and expressing creativity. Art is a vital part of our daily curriculum, allowing for self-expression and sensory development.
A child participates in a sensorial walk, experiencing different textures like cotton, sand, and gravel. This activity deepens their sensory awareness and descriptive language.
Our sensorial walk allows children to explore textures like gravel, sand, and cotton, and even temperatures with hot and cold water, fostering cognitive and motor skills.
A simple science experiment where a drawing of a worm "comes to life" with a drop of water, sparking curiosity and a love for scientific discovery.
Music and rhythm time with a Cajon. Children clap, dance, and groove, developing their gross motor skills, creativity, and an appreciation for music.
An enjoyable indoor activity where children develop gross motor skills, spatial awareness, and cognitive abilities by jumping in and out of hoops.
Weekend fun with Richard Sir. Our music sessions foster a love for the arts, encouraging creativity and self-expression in every child.
Our playgroup students enjoy a 'Dress Up' activity, which is a fun way to develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
About Creative Expression & Holistic Growth
Our sensorial walks—where children walk barefoot over gravel, sand, and water—are a core part of our methodology. This is not just a game; it is a calculated, hands-on exercise that forces children to slow down, focus on their tactile input, and develop the concentration and vocabulary to describe what they feel. We use these moments to build the foundational concentration that makes future academic tasks feel like a natural extension of their curiosity.
True creative expression in our classroom is disciplined. We don't just hand children paint; we guide them through the process of mixing, holding the brush, and observing how colors change, much like how we teach music through the rhythm of a Cajon rather than just passive listening.
Why Holistic Development Matters
- Physical & Cognitive Integration: Whether it is jumping through hoops to build spatial awareness or participating in International Yoga Day, every physical activity has a cognitive goal. We track gross motor skill development as carefully as we track alphabet recognition.
- The Role of the Arts: Music with Richard Sir is about more than just fun. It is a structured way to release energy, promote calmness, and teach children how to listen to one another.
- Sensory Awareness: By exposing children to varied textures and sensations, we are training their brains to process information from the environment. This sensory foundation is what helps them understand more complex concepts in math and language later on.
We believe that by building this balance between active expression and focused work, we prepare children for the rigor of Grade 1. They leave us with more than just facts; they leave with the independence to lead their own learning and the confidence to express themselves in any setting.
